Etsy Shopping

I have JUST made myself an ETSY shop so I can hopefully sell some of my lino block printed fabrics online. I have a Queensize doona cover with pillowcases, a quilted & satin bedspread, some cushion covers & a couple of large wallhangings, one with my favourite quote printed on it, & the other gorgeous & quilted with a satin edge.
Etsy was really easy to use, & I am hoping it will be effective community to be a part of, both for interaction between Artists, & for selling from.

Block Printing is SO MUCH FUN!

Lots of printing by my friendly & talented students! We have been having great fun in the studio. One of the great things about block printing is there are really no mistakes! Everything can be "fixed" or inspiring.

Beautiful blue & white print. This block is antique Indian.

Teaching linocut printmaking

Karen has been learning printing from me. She has made some wonderful blocks & printed her first piece of fabric this week, which we were both very pleased with!

Printing the Gallery Cosmosis curtains

Today I hung the new curtains for the front windows of Gallery Cosmosis in the Byron Bay Arts & Industrial Estate. It has taken more about 3 weeks to hand print both sides of the 9 curtains using both lino block prints & a silk screened Lotus design. I am very pleased with the results! Now the gallery looks great from the outside as well as from the inside! Here are some pix of me printing the curtains in the studio, and the finished curtains hung.

Launching the Blog

My first post. I have been watching what other people are doing with blogs, & think I also have things to share! Hi, I am Patti Jacobs. I am an artist living in the Byron Shire, Northern Rivers NSW. I have been printing fabrics with linocut blocks for over 25 years now, & have sold my wares at all the local markets & festivals. Now I have a studio connected to Gallery Cosmosis, & have given up those long days at the markets.
I have also spent the last 3 years studying how to make websites, with the view to creating affordable & functionable sites for artists & creators of other genres, & I can now create wonderful sites with galleries.
I initially did a 6 month course with the local ACE (Adult Community College) & acheived a Certificate 4 in Websites, and that was a launching pad into the realm of website creation! Since then I have been in my Macbook Pro learning the ins & outs of Dreamweaver, & now WordPress.
I look at the net as a magic realm, and to be able to make a beautiful & effective site (with easily navigatable content) & then put it up for the whole world to access is akin to being a modern day magician for me!I am so happy to be able to do this now...... & there is always more too learn!
This site will be exploring my art work, showing future students what I do in a printing workshop, a little bit of my other worlds, & a connecting place to other arts people near & far....and their blogs..... thank you for reading my initial blurb folks! Please connect to me & FOLLOW this blog!!
